I started my career as a technical writer… which I did for 12 long months. Then I found a way to utilize my writing skill and my degrees in biology by working as a conservation biologist studying endangered species and how best to protect them.

While I loved working outdoors, I was always drawn to the communication side of science – helping communicate in a way that would engage others, from funders to the general public. That eventually led me to a career in nonprofit communications, supporting land conservation, community service, and environmental advocacy through communications strategy, design, and writing.
In 2003, I founded Switky Communications Group so that I could draw on all parts of my professional background to help advance social change by getting the right messages to the right people.
When I’m not finding the perfect word or adjusting pixels, I play music, hike and bike, garden, and bake bread.
